Getting To SB Open Streets

Make the trip count and go Car Free!

Carpinteria Open Streets will span one mile in the neighborhoods and downtown business district of Carpinteria – on Linden Avenue (from 9th St. to the beach), on 9th Street (westbound from Linden Ave. to Reynolds St.), and on 8th Street (eastbound from Linden Ave. to Palm St.). While the event takes place on all of these streets with no starting or end point, 801 Linden Ave. is the approximate address for the geographical center of the event and the info booth location.

Locals: The easiest ways for locals to get to Open Streets are to bike, walk, skate, or take the Seaside Shuttle. They’re the most fun too! If driving is necessary, there will also be community parking lots open for the event. All the details are below.

Out-of-Town Visitors: You’ll see below that there are plenty of fun ways to get to Carpinteria Open Streets without driving! Try a train or bus, or if you must drive, please carpool and check out the designated parking lots listed below.

Bike

Carpinteria residents and neighbors coming from Santa Barbara can find an easy bike route to Open Streets on the SB County Bike Map. Coming from Ventura? It’s also an easy ride! Check out the Ventura County Bike Map for suggestions. You can also use Google Maps on your phone to find a bike route and get directions and estimated riding times. Bring a lock – there will be bike racks throughout the event for parking and locking your bike when you want a break from riding. Bikes on trains – if you book a Pacific Surfliner train ticket, you can reserve a spot for you bike, but act early, bike space is limited. Bike on bus info is below.

Bus

In Carpinteria you can use the Seaside Shuttle – it runs every 20 minutes for the duration of Open Streets for only $0.50/$0.25 and children under 45” tall ride free. There are no bike racks.

From Santa Barbara take the SB MTD Line 20 or 21x. Fare is only $1.75/$0.85 and children under 45” tall ride free. Each bus can carry ONLY two bikes and bikes are not allowed inside the bus except for folding bikes held by passengers.

From Ventura take the Coastal Express for $3 – it only takes 20 minutes from downtown Ventura and you can put your bike in one of the luggage bays!

Train

The Pacific Surfliner train service is a fantastic option for visitors coming from San Luis Obispo County, Goleta, Santa Barbara, Ventura County, and beyond! The Carpinteria stop is located in the middle of Open Streets! There will even be an extra train car sponsored by Pacific Surfliner to fit more visitors (and bicycles) traveling from Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. Get on board at a station near you and don’t forget to make a bike reservation if you plan on bringing your trusty steed!
